According to common rules Jacob Sörensen was to take over Catrinebjerg after his father. When his father died 1800, his mother ran the farm until her death 1814, and then it was Jacob Sörensen's youngest brother Jess Sörensen who inherited Catrinebjerg.

Jacob Sörensen had a farm in Agtrup, where his children were born. His wife died 1825, and her husband was then named a farm owner.

Probably Jacob Sörensen was devastated from the loss of his young wife leaving him as a widower with 7 small children, and that could have made him unable to run the farm. He did not marry again.

In the census of 1835 Jacob Sörensen was living in Agtrup in a house he had rented, and he worked on a day to day basis. Four of his children stayed with him: Anna Christina, Falle, Anna Maria, and Jacob. - His eldist son Søren Jacobsen Frimann was working at "Pindshøj" in Stenderup, owned by Else Jacobsen, a widow and a farm owner, a sister of his deceased mother. His third child, Hans Jacobsen Fallesen, has not been found in 1835. Jep Jacobsen Frimann is at this time a foster child at Catrinebjerg in Stenderup with his uncle Jess Sörensen. They also had a foster child named Maren Bogh, 8 years old. She was born 30.12.1826 in Binderup and got married 17.11.1860 in an arranged marriage with Paul Clausen Tonnesen.

As Bedstefar (Poul Jacobsen Freeman) told, his father (Jacob Jacobsen Frimann) was sent to Haderslev to learn a trade because his father (Jacob Sörensen) had lost the farm that he had.

In the census of 1845 and 1860 Jacob Sörensen lived at Bengård owned by his brother Nis Sörensen, and he died there 1868.

Death: Page 337. Jacob Sörensen, being a son of Søren Jacobsen, a farmer in Stenderup, and his wife Anne Marie, f. Pedersen. He was born there. He lived with Jep Nissen Beengaard in Agtrup. 91 1/2 years old. A widower, leaves 3 sons and 1 daughter.

Jacob blev gift med Dorothea JACOBSEN, datter af Hans FALLSEN og Kirstine HANSDATTER, den 13.02.1813 i Sønder Bjert Kirke, Sønder Bjert Sogn, Nørre Tyrstrup Herred, Vejle Amt. (Dorothea JACOBSEN blev født den 04.11.1784 på "Dalagergård", Binderup, Sønder Bjert Sogn, Nørre Tyrstrup Herred, Vejle Amt, dåb den 05.11.1784 i Præstegården, Sønder Bjert Sogn, Nørre Tyrstrup Herred, Vejle Amt, døde den 15.04.1825 i Agtrup, Sønder Bjert Sogn, Nørre Tyrstrup Herred, Vejle Amt og blev begravet den 20.04.1825 på Sønder Bjert Kirkegård, Sønder Bjert Sogn, Nørre Tyrstrup Herred, Vejle Amt.)
