Obituary

SORENSEN, Lars Norgaard June 15, 1916 - February 11, 2011. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lars Norgaard Sorensen at the age of 94 years. He was born on June 15, 1916 in Hadsund, Denmark and was predeceased by his parents, one brother and one sister. He will be dearly missed by his wife Joanne (Joan) of sixty-five years, four sons, Larry (Sherry) from Calgary, Allen (Diana) from Acme, Kenneth (Beverley) from Australia and Murray (Ingrid) from Acme, seven grandchildren, one step-grandson, six great-grandchildren, two brothers in Denmark and many nephews and nieces both here and in Denmark. At age eighteen, he immigrated to Canada, working first at a farm at Sceptre, Saskatchewan and finally moving to a farm in Acme in 1952. Acme was to be home for him for fifty years. Lars will be remembered as a very kind, gentle and soft-spoken man. He loved the outdoors and farming but most of all loved his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In 2005, he along with Joan moved to the Edgemont Retirement Residence in Calgary. We wish to thank the Edgemont Retirement Residence for all their kindness and care and to all his friends he made while living there. Memorial Services will be held Thursday, February 17, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Acme United Church, Acme, AB. Memorial donations may be made to Acme United Church. (Johanne Elisabeth STRAARUP blev født den 27.05.1918 i Gelballe, Skanderup Sogn, Anst Herred, Ribe Amt, dåb den 09.06.1918 i Skanderup Kirke, Skanderup Sogn, Anst Herred, Ribe Amt, døde den 09.08.2014 i Edgemont Retirement Residence, Calgary, Alberta, Canada og blev begravet den 15.08.2014 i Acme United Church, Acme, Alberta, Canada.)
